Hyeon-su (18, M), the top student in his school, runs on the playground every day to cope with the stress of studying in the sweltering summer heat. One day, he collapses from exhaustion while running, and Yeong-hyeon (18, F) stops to help. As the two begin studying for exams together, they feel a quiet flutter between them. But when the results come in, her rank rises and his falls.

One summer, I received the last letter she had left behind in 2004. Chuncheon, Soyang-ro, Jangmichon—a red-light district whose name means "Rose Village." It was where she wrote her final letter and where I spent my childhood. After receiving the letter, I returned, but both Jangmichon and my old house had vanished. Where did the women who lived here go? Why are they always the first to disappear? Who made them vanish? Searching for traces of the women who wavered and disappeared like a shimmering summer haze.

Sooyeon is going to prepare ribs for the 10 year anniversary of her mother’s death. However, in the midst of preparations, Sooyeon's stepmother, Youngeun, visits to help in place of Sooyeon's busy father. Sooyeon understands Youngeun’s intention, but the situation is uncomfortable. As a day passes amidst consideration and apologies, the morning of the memorial service dawns.
